Mandurah

Post by Rudolph » Sat Feb 18, 2012 3:02 pm

Tailor has been abundant of late. Took Renier down for his first fish last weekend and he managed 3 species, herring, tailor and yellowfin whiting. Thought the whiting was a fluke, but then he managed another one this arvo. Lucky bastard

Talking about lucky bastards, I went for a fish this morning at the bridge. Caught a few Tarwhine and a few nice fat herring. There appeared not to be any Tailor around.
Jeff Pride turned up later and caught Herring, Tailor and Tarwhine. Tried to kid me that he had caught the "Mandurah big three" in one session. I told him that unless he was prepared to cough up the dough to change the design on or 'proposed new' Mandurah Club shirt he could bugger off. I left him their fishing from his kayak.
When I arrived home I received a text with photo showing he had caught a bunch of fish after I had left including a bloody Skippy.
Rudolph I think we may have to have a big four or even a big five as we are so good at this fishing lark down here in Mandurah

Gonna have to up the shirts to 4XL to fit all the fish!

Better keep this quiet. Don't want the rest of the club to spoil out secret spot :)

Which flies were you using? Renier was fishing a Di3 5wt with flouro tippet and a charlie I've been experimenting with. Tied up a few of Yosuke's shrimp flies to go try out on Sunday. Will post a pic if they work

Easy decision Tony, we can swap . You and Steve can come down and stay with the wrinklies (Theres bingo on tuesdays and lawn bowls everyday) and Rudolph and I will take your boat to Exmouth!
Kids, did I mention the kids? Steve would make a great babysitter

Rudolph, I have been using silver Charly's, I'm not one to tell tales but Jeff got all his fish on 'green wobbly' WMD's.
Wind permitting I will be back in the spot tomorrow morning.
Meybe we can talk about our trip to Exmouth if Tony makes the smart decision!

Knew I should have fished this morning :(

Did you get my text last night? Saw some mullet action in the bird sanctuary area. Are we allowed to fish there?

Yes I got your messages thanks.
As for fishing along the bird sancuary , I don't see why not as long as you stay in the water and not go wandering into the marsh area. The river widens there and there is no defined drop off like where we normally fish. Also as you move further downstream the bottom gets very boggy, I got myself stuck there one day, not nice.
Good luck catching them Mullet
