Exmouth
Hey there all,
It's a bit of spur of the moment thing, but turns out I will have so free time around easter and I'm seriously considering driving up to exmouth (and shark bay maybe) and camping out there for a week. Alternatively I may consider trying south for Salmon.
I'm a bit of a saltwater novice and only have fished saltwater proper once before (swan/canning doesn't count), so any advice will be appreciated.
I would take the kayak up though as I'm not an experienced paddler, no offshore forays or anything. Yak mainly to help combat wind and some fishing close to shore spots that are out of casting range and would also be doing shore based angling
Main rigs would be an 8wt and 10wt but will also take 9wt as backup rod, all with intermediates and floaters. Busy starting to tie clousers, decivers, 1/2 & 1/2 in size 2 though 2/0, surf candies in size 2, squimps and crabs in size 2 and 1/0. main colours on the baitfish patterns would be all white, white with red thread, olive over white and chartreuse over white
I guess 20lb fluoro tippet is standard fair up there for fishing?
If anyone could please provide me with some shore based options/locations that I should start it would be of great help as I would have no idea where to start, or PM me with any info that may be of help to me.
Thanks for the help guys

Re: Exmouth
G'day Gael,
I'm going to Shark Bay (Tamala Stn) on Good Friday, fishing for snapper there on Saturday, then driving to Exxy on Easter Sunday. I'm camping at the Aspen caravan park in town and driving back to Perth on 26th and 27th (overnighting near Carnarvon). I'm taking my son and two yaks, so if you want company when you're on your yak, feel free to tag along.
I'm not going "off shore" either. I'll be spending time around Learmonth, Bay Of Rest, Bundegi and the western side of the Cape, but all close to shore. Location depends on weather. (Some 4wd access required.)
Permit, trevs, bones and queenies will be my main quarry, but no doubt I'll catch more flatties than anything else!
Might even see if we can pull in a barramundi, eh?
PM me your email address and I'll give you more details of our movements as they come to hand.
Cheers,
Graeme
