Re: Keep Australia Fishing Protest Rally
Love to, but but my nasty fly fishing habit means I need to keep working. If there's another on the weekend, I'll go to that.
Of course, it doesn't take much convincing for me to take a day's leave. Fishing in the morning, political activism in the afternoon.
Cheers,
Graeme

Re: Keep Australia Fishing Protest Rally
More details are becoming available for this, i encourage everyone who is concerned about the recent Labour Party policy goings on regarding marine parks to make a once off effort to support and spread the word about this, a lot of others are doing likewise i can assure, but the greatest danger with these things is if our "she'l be right mate" style apathy kicks in and the turn out is not big, it is actually proof for the pollies that thee is not much opposition to the plan. I will be there, stuck in a huge traffic jam hopefully !

Re: Keep Australia Fishing Rally and Convoy
A reminder that the Rally is Happening this Wednesday August the 29th, Location Langley Park , Perth 4pm to 6pm. There will be a free sausage sizzle, and guest speakers will include Rex Hunt, Andrew Rowland from Recfish West, Emma George, Jamie Chester and probably Norman Moore current Wa minister for Fisheries. In addition there will be covoys leaving at 2.30pm from LLeeuwin boat ramp and Hillaries boat ramp, i have copies of the route map for the lleuwin convoy if anyone wants one i can e-mail it.
Recfish west is fully behind this campaign and they say .....
" The keep Australia Fishing Don't lock us out campaign was launched in response to Federal Governments Marine Reserves network that has proposed to lock Australian Fishers out of vast ares of water, including iconic areas such as geographe bay, dampier and the Rottnest Trench.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of the consequences of the Marine Reserves Network to recreational fishers and promote action to encourage the Federal Government to take a more balanced approach that takes into account the views of australias 5 million recreational fishers.
The rereational fishing sector must stand up and show thier support for this event. A well attended rally will give a strong indication to the federal government that the recreational fishing sector will not be taken lightly."
Bannners and signs with the massage "keep australia fishing" and "dont lock us out" have been suggested to keep the mesage uniform, and as many separate cars with boats in tow as possible. Finally there will be attendant guided parking on Langley Park so security and parking issues should not be a concern.
Any questions ? Post here or phone or e-mail me , i will be happy to help.

Re: Keep Australia Fishing Rally and Convoy UPDATE
LAST MINUTE UPDATE DUE TO A LAST MINUTE CHANGE OF MIND BY THE PERTH CITY COUNCIL.......
Information for the KEEP AUSTRALIA FISHING CONVOY AND RALLY:
Recfishwest has just today been notified that ONLY vehicles towing boats, as part of the convoy will be allowed to park on the grounds of Langley Park. For all other vehicles coming to the rally, we recommend using street parking on Terrace Road, Plain St car park, or Wilson car parking under the Hilton Centre (entry off Terrace Road, max vehicle height 2m).
Apologies for this late notice.
So this is on tomorrow afternoon, please come along and show your support if possible, there aparently is a lot of available streety parking at 3 or 4 in the afternoon, so if you can't hook up a boat it should be no big drama.
The rally starts at 4pm, convoys from hillaries boat ramp, bluewater morley and leeuwin boat ramp depart at 2-30pm.
There will be Media coverage so best behavior by all has been requested.
See u there !??
