A fishy new year to all.
Our first meeting of the year is just around the corner. This month, we have the following.
Late last year, a group of us did a trip to Weipa to fish with Alan 'Fish' Philliskirk and his guides. For some of us, it was a return trip, in a different time of year, with different target species on offer. For the rest, it was a chance to experience Weipa. Fishing conditions weren't favourable, with an earlier than normal start of the wet season last year. Saying that, we made the most of what was on offer, and there were some exceptional captures.
Fish runs a fantastic operation, and Weipa is one of the premier fly fishing destinations. This is a trip report not to miss.
Drew Norrish will be coming along to promote Thevenard Island, aka Mackerel Islands. Thevenard has recently reopened to the public, after closing for several years due to mining projects around the island. Thevenard is a fantastic location, and it's great that Drew is taking some time out to share some of his experiences.
Our next field day is Walpole. It's been a few years since we've visited Walpole as a field day. We will quick run down of how and where to fish.
We've had two field days since the last meeting. Blackwood River in December, and Mandurah in January. Andre and Leon to report on these two events.
Start time 7.30, as normal, but come along earlier and have a chat and catch-up before the meeting.
Graeme will be running a casting session before the meeting. Graeme will announce details.
