Maybe we should do an annual award/Trophy. You got the Emmy, and the Logie, maybe we need a SWAFTY for the best member film of the year !

Well the first ever "Saltwater Flyrodders Film Festival" ran at the November Club meeting last night and, by the comments received it was a resounding success. Entries were received from

Leon Normore - “Learning to Fly” a great production about teaching the next generation of budding
SWOFFA’s to the sport and lifestyle of Fly-fishing.

Graeme Hird - “Industrial Salmon” Salmon from a yak, in close and very accessible.

Rohan Smith - “Boneheads 2015” About the Cyclone effected 2015 Boneheads trip and “The Cove” a
great production on the swan with some memorable Giant Herring captures, maybe
could of finished just before the dark side Rohan.

Eric Franco - “Rompin 2013” A short rap up of the boys 2013 trip. I must say it finished with the
best photo I have seen of our president in years.

After putting it to a vote of the audience, the winner of the converted Poisson Dore’ (The Golden Fish) award for best film went to “Learning to Fly” by Leon.

So best you start your cuts for the "2016 Saltwater Flyrodders Film Festival".

Thanks for organising the event Brian, and thanks Leon for suggesting it in the first place, a great idea and a learning experience for sure. Thought the award may have been titled the " SWAFTY" but "Poisson Dore" does have a ring to it. Maybe we should get a trophy with a golden fish mounted ' GRAMMY AWARD ' style :D
