I got my first bone on the fly rod last Saturday night, and I managed to do it in Perth metro waters on a fly intended for mulloway.
Unfortunately, it was a boney herring, rather than a bonefish …

I still dont think that bonefish was as impressive as Graemes 20cm Bony Herring on a 4/0 deciever & 12wt double
hander.. these fish must swim around with there mouth open!
I tell ya what..they reckon become CRAZY spooky.. almost Permit like.. watched a DVD on a guy fishing for 15lb bones in hawaii.. couldnt get a take!

Interestingly, further along the same IGFA link is an impressive 10kg Papuan Black bass caught on 2kg line by an old fishing buddy of mine from PNG - oh to be back there again
Makes me want to book a trip back there to tackle em on fly.
