Hi all, anyone ever fished the bay of rest in exmouth. I fished it once many years ago from a tinnie but cant remember to much about it. Is it fishable from the shore. Got onto google earth and had a quick look. Was thinking of fishing the mouth inlets as theres the main bay of rest inlet then another smaller inlet just to the left or (north ). There is a lot of mangroves from memory so most parts i think arent managable from shore. Im guessing a rising tide for these spots.

Bay of Rest is doable from the shore. Some of the boys fished it from shore before they got boats.
There is a track to a launching spot at the turn off to Learmonth Jetty. The area has signposts at the spot and there is always a few cars and trailers parked.
This is the spot the boys would launch from. Now everyone launches from the beach at the jetty.
There is a good set of flats out the front of the launching area.
You need to get there at low tide and fish the incoming. Move back to shore as the water level increases. There is also a distinct channel and drop off that will work for blind casting. It will be full of small queenies and small trevs. There should be enough water for you to
The flat itself I would expect to see permit and goldens on it as the tide rises.

You'll need a 4wd to get into Bay of Rest. The flats directly north is probably not the best of spots. Clean firm white sand. More of a transition flat rather than one that holds fish. Best to get there on dead low and fish the incoming tide. Be careful not to stay out wide too long as the tide comes in.
Around the mouth usually fishes reasonably well. I'll only fish it if the water is reasonably clear. It's a spooky place when you can't see what's coming towards you.
