So the last few trips have been ok withsome success- species have included whiting, bream & quite a few flathead. Tailor have been around too.
Everyone else getting into it? What flies are doing the damage if you are having some success?

Although patchy, the fish in the Swan seem to be of good quality this year, flathead are larger than usual, and so are the Tailor. This months Field day challenge is fish on popper flies and i already have Tailor and Uggh , Blowie ! Got two tailor in two casts on the Como flat and the one that didn't manage a bite off went 37cm, very solid for this part of the river.There are also some persistant nasty rumours of giant Herring from the same spot and pt walter but despite repeated searches by myself and others recently no one has seen any evidence, but will keep looking, there are plenty of baitfish on the flats.

Were you fishing on foot or on a yak? I've been down there a few times and have seen some guys out on yaks? The bream have been very quiet down there this summer so far. Perhaps they'll move in later.

Was down at Point Res early on Sunday morning. There were a few bream about until the ski boaters turned up.
Water level in the river was really high that morning.

point roe is looking good, only a little bit of snot weed just off the beach. got a 55cm flaty on thursday.

Had an hour of casting this morning down at Point Resolution - didn't manage to get anything but there were plenty of small mullet around. Interestingly there were hardly any blowies!

Back down to Point Res early this morning to beat the boats.
Plenty of little bream around. There were some flathead. There are some big mullet about to.
I saw some whiting in amongst the weeds. They were good sized fish but sitting on the bottom. I had one mooching around the bottom right at my rod tip. He got spooked when some little bream hit my fly.
Water was very clear until the first of the ferries went by about 9 o'clock. After that the boat traffic picked and the clarity of the water decreased.
All in all a good morning and enough interesting stuff happening.

Can't seem motivated to get up early to fish the Swan. It was lunch time by the time I got going yesterday. First stop was Point Res. Resembled a washing machine with all the boat traffic. Didn't get out of the car, and kept moving.
The flats around UWA looked good, however, water level was a little high, so again kept moving on.
Popped down to Canning Bridge, and again boats churning the water to a foam.
Mt Henry bridge, boat traffic was starting to ease up a little, but decided that there was still too much of the hoon element in the air. Got out of the house to relax, and not to put up with idiots on the water.
Met up with Arnold who did the same and headed down to Point Res initially. Finally settled on a couple of spots up the Canning sheltered from the afternoon wind that was due soon. Ended up with 7 bream to 28cm, and 2 grunter in two hour's fishing. The fish were being particularily fussy yesterday. Plenty of bites, but struggled with hook up. Lot's of tail nipping. When they managed the take, it was the softest sip, rather than the sledge hammer smash that you usually expect from bream. Lots of bait in the area we were fishing. Stuff getting chased around all over the place. Water up river is still very dark. Can't see your feet in knee deep water. A lot of tannin in the water, however, it's pretty clean.
