Sinkers for deep water

Hi Lads,

just wondering what size sinkers you are using before your flys to get down deep and whats the ideal sink pattern for this, ie faster than the line or slower or same speed. How are you gauging if it sinks too fast or too slow? Also what loop knot are you finding most successful and how big should it be for this and do you ever experience the sinker chafing the mono?

Cheers,

Dee :)

Sinker 000
Lefty loop knot sinker in loop
Just big enough to to accomodate sinker, typically the same size as normal
Never experienced chaffing from sinker
Should sink slightly faster than line so that there is no belly, ie straight from rod down line/leader to fly

Sometimes use slightly bigger sinkers. It is easier to have lead wraps but sometimes you need the extra sink.
