Went for a kayak session on the sound on Friday considering how good the weather was looking in the hopes of finding some salmon.
Unfortunately no salmon to be found though did run into some skippy which was good fun, along with some herring and wrasse

Looking at getting a kayak here now at the moment as well. What sort of outfit are you using?

I'm using a malibu stealth 12, it's a regular paddle kayak and a stable vessel. It also has a area to stand if the weather/swell permits.
In hindsight a peddle kayak (hobie) is preferable as you can cast and peddle at same time, plus after a long days fishing casting a rod all day the paddle back home can be a killer, especially if it's against the wind. Hobie kayaks are expensive unfortunately. Though, for less money than a hobie you can get a regular kayak and a trolling motor.
I wouldn't go anything smaller unless you only plan to use it on rivers or estuaries.
Other option is a 12ft tinnie, second hand one will set you back the same as a reasonable kayak.
