Saltwater Flyrodders

After getting into the Salmon last Friday, it got me into the tying mood again. There's lots of little baits around at the moment, but the fish aren't shy of hitting larger flies.
Most of the hooks are 2/0 SL12S.

First up, a high tie craft fur profile. Variation on a Who Hoo fly Profile fly Salmon on poppers are insane. Seeing a school of salmon chase down poppers is mayhem. This is an articulated popper that I used a bit last season. I seem to get better hook up rates compared with standard poppers.

That high tie craft fur profile is one sexy looking fly, might tie a few up myself.
Though I think the better hook up rate on the articulated popper might be due to the fly doing a bit of eyelash fluttering ! Just check next time that those Salmon aren't all male fish !

I have only ever used craft fur on small flies. How does it go with fouling on Salmon sized models?

Doesn't foul, because the epoxy is brought back to the bend of the hook. The hook is pretty interesting as well. It's a Gama wide gape from one of the online US stores. The gape is as big as the shank. Reasonably strong, however, one distorted last year on a salmon.

After seeing these, I think I need to get back into fly-tying again!
