For those of you that 'havent' seen a means of 'hand spinning' furled leaders here's a video on the subject
I had a more simple video somewhere. Be prepared for cardboard voice over.
I found this technique good also for 12inch abrasion tippet resistance on fish like Barra on non-fly also. It means instead an 80lb leader, 30lb 12inch length can be spun at the end to prevent gill raker damage.
When trolling with braid, a 3 foot twist can provide resistance, stretch and less drag.

the video I made and posted on YouTube. Sure, it requires a tool, but the end result is another order of magnitude better than the hand-twisted version due to the tighter twisting.
These aren't actually "furled leaders"; they are twisted leaders, AKA Singapore leaders. Furled leaders are made with a different process that is similar to furling a rope.

When I was referring trolling, I was referring to trolling with braid and bibbed minnow. I only twist the line on itself up so much then surgeon knot to a single strand of mono rather than 4 to 2 strands not that you cant.
Ill check the video to ensure I have the right one. I hadn't watched it due to the chalkboard commentary.
The method I use is twisted with fingers pinched so line is not just spun around itself but twisted within itself. Twisted within fingers it actually becomes quite tight with practice. So to add, the individual strands spin in on themselves as well not just around each other. It adds a hell of a lot of absorption in the line . Sure, its no Harro knotted dog. No drills & toolbox needed.
I have no camera suited to making a demo. Ill see if I can.

Yeah checked the video, same but when Im pinching in fingers Im ensuring the energy is held in the twist really tight. It does get quite tight. He has not a lot of energy stored in his leader there.
Except, the line goes (2 to 1 strand) or (4 to 2 to 1 strand then back to back uni tippet)
