Hi Paul
We've had a cool start to autumn this year compared with the last few years. This usually puts the black bream in Walpole down, and they disappear off the flats till the next summer. Saying that, if you have access to a boat, it's still possible to get them up the Franklin and Deep rivers. Other species that you should encounter are silver trevally, herring, and whiting.
There should still be a few Australian Salmon along that stretch of coastline. If your mate fishes, ask him if there are any places close by where fish lay up on their migratory run (commonly known as hospitals).
4 - 6 weights for the estuary species will keep things fun, 9 wt for the salmon.

hey Paul,
I have put a couple of reports up from Walpole..... When i was out there last i mainly fished out near the bar
or the mouth of the inlet entrance... There was plenty too have fun on fly... Heaps of herring and baby snapper...

My mate was down there last week and went around the front in his boat... Theres a couple of islands pretty close too the point u cant miss them.. I fished around there got heaps of tuna, Salmon, Yellow tail king fish, Bonito... He using lures but yeh u could definetly target them all on fly...

Cheers

Paul,

Barracuda are a tropical species and they are often picked up as a by catch when we are up north chasing "good" fish. (There are much better fish to target in areas where 'cuda can be caught.)

You won't find them around Walpole though.

Cheers,
Graeme

Thanks for the reply Graeme this will be my first time at Walpole and I know my buddy will put me on fish but it's always good to gather as much info as you can before you get there.
I was hoping to get a trip to Exmouth while I'm over for some bones but not enough time or money But it on my todo list for the next visit
