Hi,
I am going to Denmark the week after Easter and was looking for some info and advise on chasing Salmon down there. I will be land based.
Any advice on strategies, spots and flies would be appreciated. Assume a 9 or 10 weight would be the go?
Regards,
Clayton

Hi Clayton,
I live in Albany and have been chasing salmon for a long time one of my fav fish to catch
But as for fly i only took that up some months ago. I did catch a couple smaller fish down walpole around christmas time
prob resident fish and they put a decent bend in the 8wt. So definetly a 9 or 10wt would be better suited too the bigger ones with the run of the season.
I also struggled too punch out my cast in the wind with my 8wt so a 9 or 10 wt will combat the wind alot better and its always blowing somewhere down this way. Than again thats a great time of year for weather and get alot of calm days around than. as For Denmark local spots i dont usually go there for salmon as i usually head east from Albany if i dont fish local or down towards walpole. But Ocean beach can be good off around the rocks there as well. Lights can be good just out of town.
But yeh if u want a mate for a fish let me know ill drove over. And as for flies i caught one on a clouser and a deciever. But i usually love chasing them on the top before i picked up flys so will definetly be making some poppers and getting some crease flys. I've heard surf candys are good. Hope that helps a little mate. take ur light gear mate as the estuary down there that time of year can be good. estuary pinkys start coming down the mouth of the inlet at Ocean beach and ofcorse bream and yellowfin whiting
