Below is my first attempt at a Leftys Deceiver in blue over white. I tied it a little too far back on the hook

Certainly got a long way to go to get it right but im pretty happy with a first attempt.

A few them in olive over white, yellow over white, white over white, chartreuse over white and you are set for exmouth.

Olive over white was the weapon of choice for me in exmouth as per Gavins advice, didn't let me down but i don't think they are too fussy

Great looking first Deceiver.
Looks like you have the feathers tied splayed outwards. Have a play with tying the feathers splayed inwards (towards each other). You get a better baitfish profile. Think about using a couple of feathers each side. Feathers are reasonably brittle and do get chewed off regularily. A certain club member has been known to throw half a chook on a hook.
For some reason, blue over white is not a very popular colour combination in WA. In other parts of the world, it's a staple diet of most fish. I'ld look at different colour combinations. Can't go wrong with an all white deceiver.
Think about dimensions/profile of what you're trying to imitate when tying. This was probably the biggest tip I was shown when I first got into tying.

I actually tied them splayed inwards but due to incorrect feather selection and my poor lining up skills they have crossed over each other giving the splayed outwards look, Im hoping once in the water it will be fixed but failing that it will displace some water giving it some action at least.
