Saltwater Flyrodders

hey all my name is Michael ive just recently (5 days ago) bought myself a saltwater fly fishing combo an 8 weight. i have always wanted to try fly fishing as i love every other form of fishing, ill say i have never felt so useless in my life tryimg to cast a fly rod lol but i can officially get about 10 to 15 meters with the wind behind me

my plan is to attend novembers meeting and join as a member but i was wondering if anyone out there maybe keen to maybe give me some tips on learning to cast and even what flies to use id really appreciate it at the moment i fear that i may take someones eye out if they get to close or even my own

i am hoping to go friday after work or on the weekend but i only have a couple of crazy charlie flies is a couple of colours at this stage so i need to find somewhere to get more thats close to my home in mirrabooka or near work in freo

Welcome to the forum and a new addiction. I hope you didn't invest too much money in all that conventional gear you got, because it's not going to see a lot of use over the next few years ....

If you have your gear with you today at work, I can meet up with you in Freo this afternoon at Stephens Reserve (where my son will be at cricket training from 4.00pm to 6.20pm) and give you a few tips on casting.
