Saltwater Flyrodders

Hello All: I am new to this site, first post. I am heading to Exmouth in a couple of weeks and I have two days of guided fishing booked but I was also wanting to do some DIY fly fishing from shore. Can anyone recommend some spots where I can do this. Also any recommendations of must have flies I should be bringing would be much appreciated.

Quite a lot to distill into one post- most everyone at the meeting on Tuesday have been up multiple times. I'd suggest swinging by and chewing the fat over a couple of cold ones.

As far as flies go white+ clousers on a size 1 hook are a good start, take plenty.
Shore based you must try Old Bundegi on the Gulf side
West side my recommendations would be Trisells, Fence line just before entrance to NP. Sandy bay.
Oysters is often a good choice if its windy. All easily accessible with 2 wheel drive and some good footwear.

Rohan smith at Bluewater Myaree has done a lot of worthy miles on the west coast catching a lot of bones. If only he did a talk........ maybe one day.

Roger has covered it well on land based spots. As far as land based flies go, I'd just take a box full of clousere, shrimps / squimps and maybe a couple of poppers. Synthetics are often the way to go as the local population of Charlies will make short work of bucktail clousers.
Travel light, take some decent boots and walk for miles mate. Given the pressure gets it is still a fantastic fishery.

Thanks for all the responses. I wish I could drop by and have a couple cold ones with the club but time does not permit. I’m only in Perth long enough to change planes. I’ll post a report when I’m done.
