Meeting 7 February 2017
Posted: Wed Feb 01, 2017 12:18 pm
Greetings all and a Happy New Year.
For our first meeting of the year, we have the following activities planned.
A few of the members have been asking about tips on looking after fly gear. We're going to do a rod and reel maintenance workshop. Not all reels are built in the same manner, but hopefully this will give a head start on what to look for when servicing your gear.
The next field day is Walpole. As it's been a fair few years since the club has been down, we'll do a rundown on the area. There's lots of options in this fishery, and is very fishable if you don't have access to a boat. There should be enough members down with boats to help ferry guys around on the weekend to some of the more inaccessible flats.
Quite a few members headed up to Exmouth around Christmas/New Year. The weather was not perfect. Forecast of impending cyclones caused some queries about the sanity of driving into a cyclone. Fortunately, the cyclone didn't eventuate, however, we did have quite a few windy days. While the fishing was not hot, there were some quality fish caught. We'll do a rundown on how some of the groups went.
Hope to see you there.
