I must have spooked half a dozen that day as I couldnt see them through the chop in the middle of the day... in the end it was either stay on the flat and get stuck or bail out as it was too shallow. Chose the safer option and went elsewhere.

On some of the flats in Exmouth, you will see more permit than other fish. You need to be prepared for them and have a rod rigged ready for them. If you're targeting permit, you pretty much have to let the meter long queenfish and giant trevally swim past and concentrate solely on permit. Takes a lot of displine to do this. Roll on Boneheads.
