Better get Dave to update your membership status Birchy. There are some reports in the club members' section.

Hey Birchy, unfortunately I could only fish on the Sunday and the shore action was hard to find or at least our timing was out at most places we looked :( The brave soles that ventured out on boats on Saturday did pretty well though at Rowboat reef and in the shallows of Carnac Island.

Steve,
My choices for Saturday were:
a) Be a brave sole and go out fishing like a mad man, or
b) Finish paving the driveway and moving garden beds.

I choose "A" !!!

Glad I did. Had a lot of fun catching my 5 salmon for the day and got my yearly intake of salt thanks to all the spray coming over the bow.

Thanks again to Dave for the invite.

I went out with Spence to Carnac. Hooked one for 20 seconds or so and lost it when the stripped line tangled. I grabbed the line and broke it off, rather than damage the rod with a massive knot jammed in the guides.

Needless to say, I'm building a VLMD for myself at the moment.

Cheers,

Went out land based one day during the week. It was drizzling rain the whole day and nothing but herring and pike. Came across a black mass of moving seaweed with tail slaps and rolling fish. My heart skipped a beat thinking it was a shoal of salmon within casting range! Ended up being a shoal of mullet. Still got three nice ones out of it. Practice for when I come across a shoal of salmon I hope! :D

Ha! Ha! I know, it was so frustrating trying to catch them. None of them were taking the fly properly. I ended up foul hooking one of them. But the other two were in the mouth. A lot of fun chasing that shoal up and down the beach there though. Hoping to come across the salmon somewhere soon. Its hard when you dont have a boat or yak.
