hey guys, would the sl12s 4/0 be alright for bigger fish up at exmouth or would u go bigger ?? got some now
and been getting salmon on them. but would a bigger fly be better for GTs and what not if we come across some

As long as you are using quality hooks (like SL12's) I reckon 4/0's (or even 1/0 or 2/0's) are fine for anything you are likely to catch at Exmouth, with the possible exception of Billfish. It's more a question of matching the hook to the size of the fly needed to get particular fish to eat. E.g. you would probably want to use a bigger hook on a 20cm flashy profile or a large fat boy.

There is not much you can't catch on a 2/0 clouser

Yeh ill use the 4/0s for some of the bigger profiles. And get tying some 1/0s and 2/0s.
Is it worth tying man 4s or 2s up ? Or mainly use 1/0s even for the smaller fish.

I would take a handful of smaller clousers like 2's - could be useful for Tuna, or really shallow water or spooky fish.

It is pretty subjective, but if I could only take (say) 50 flies to Exmouth I would go with something like this, with a view to targeting a wide range of fish:

- 30 1/0 and 2/0 clousers in different colours and eye sizes
- A mix of smaller clousers, charlies, candies, decievers/larger baitfish imitations, crab, shrimps and poppers for the remaining 20 flies

Yeh, would u say u would use more clousers than decievers up there..
Would most of the beachs only be a couple feet deep where u are fishing or??

I use more clousers than anything else...in a week I might fish all of those other patterns too, but most of the time I would have a clouser tied on.

Water depth on the beaches varies a fair bit. Probably 2 - 6 feet in most spots you would fish, but there are some places where you can cast into deeper water while wading.
